  3. Painless Tooth Extraction

When we recommend a tooth extraction for you, know that it’s for the best. We recommend tooth removal only as a last resort. Our motto of conservative dentistry promotes the preservation of the tooth even if it’s broken or most of its structure is damaged. So only when we feel we cannot save the tooth by any other method, we advise tooth extraction. And you need not worry about the pain. For children, we never inject in the first visit itself, since we focus on the childs overall health which includes the child’s psychology and we want to prevent any phobia for the child, for life. Our care is always centered around our patients comfort.

So, when is Tooth Removal needed? In the following cases…

  1. Retained baby tooth and abnormal eruption of permanent incisor. This may seem unnecessary but can actually prevent braces in the future, hence is important.

2. Severe Infection. This is the most common reason why a dentist needs to extract a tooth which cannot be saved by root canal treatment

3. Orthodontic Treatment. Traditional braces are a famous orthodontic treatment to fix teeth misalignment. However, it’s difficult for teeth to shift if it’s crowded or naturally large. We may need to take out one or some of them for easier and faster therapy.

4. Supernumerary Teeth- extra teeth that cause trouble for the dentition.

5. Fractured Teeth. Dentists would likely suggest tooth extraction if the fractured tooth is so bad that no filling or bonding could fix it.

Cosmetic purposes. Some teeth are badly shaped that the patient’s appearance is affected. If improvements don’t work, the dentist will remove these teeth.

6. Impacted Wisdom Tooth- When a wisdom tooth can’t come out due to lack of space and is causing pain and infection, it should be extracted

For children, we prefer to delay extraction to the second or third visit to desensitize the child, to ensure a smooth and comfortable visit for the child. Once the child is at ease at the clinic and has a healthy perception of dentistry, the pediatric dentist moves from less invasive to more invasive procedures(based on the childs pschyclogy according to the child’s age)
